New Years Resolutions

2016 has been a massive roller coaster for me. Lot of things have happened good and bad and my life has changed a lot. But I have a good feeling about 2017 and hopefully it will be a much more positive year, so here are my resolutions.

1. Stress less.

I am a MASSIVE ball of stress right now. I am doing a very stressful university course until July 2017 and I barely have any time to myself because the course is so full on. I basically just want to be able to find some chill time in the New Year and to be able to have some me time. Hopefully I will be able to do this!

2. Make more time for family.

Again I feel that 2016 has been a massively busy year for me so I want to make sure that in 2017 I spend more time with my family. If 2016 has taught me anything it's that life is short and family is the most important thing.

3. Learn a language.

I am always so jealous of friends that can speak another language and I have always wanted to learn one. I want to learn either French or Spanish but i am yet to decide which one. I did French at school but I feel that Spanish may be more useful to me.

4. Get fit.

While I don't particularly want to lose any weight I am seriously unfit. I get out of breath just walking up the stairs! I am going to New York in April and one of the things I will be doing is going to the top of the Statue of Liberty, which is a LOT of steps. I think not wanting to collapse in the Statue of Liberty is a very good reason to get fit!

Christmas Haul

So I haven't done a blog post in about 4 months so why not return with a lovely little haul post!

I would like to start by pointing out I am not doing this post to brag. I know people like to read these and I am very grateful for the presents I got.

So first of all my lovely big brother (he's actually a lot shorter than me but he's older so hey ho) got me these lovely items from the Soap and Glory range. He got me a foot cream, bubble bath and body lotion. Anyone that knows me knows that I love Soap and Glory so I was very very happy when I opened this lovely lot.

My parents were constantly asking me this year what I wanted but I had no idea! The only thing I asked for was makeup brushes, because my ones were a bit old, and they got me some lovely gifts! I got these fluffy socks, I also got similar ones with a star pattern on and also some Gingerbread Man ones which are really soft.

Anyone who knows me knows I am not a morning person and I HATE Mondays so this oversized tee is perfect for me. It's meant for night time and it's super comfortable, I think my parents got it from Topshop because I LIVE for their clothing.

I am a bit of a bookworm and if I don't have any uni work to do I will probably be reading. My parents got me Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I have always wanted to read this and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is one of my favourite books so I am sure I will enjoy it.

I only asked for a few makeup brushes and I ended up with loads! This picture doesn't do them justice but they are all Real Techniques brushes. I got the Core set, Eye brushes set and the Essentials set. Mom and Dad did good!

This next gift is from my lovely friend Amy. She got me one of my favorite bottles of wine because what Christmas is complete without a bit of alcohol?! She also got me this lovely travel mug. Myself and Amy are both trainee teachers and a hot drink is essential during our long days so this gift is perfect!

My other lovely friend Sara got me this really cute box which contained lots of little gifts, such as a shower gel, peppermint lip balm, bobbles, chocolate coins etc. I LOVE the box, I have no idea where she got it from but it was a lovely gift.

Finally what Christmas is complete without a bit of chocolate?! My parents got me a massive chocolate Snowman and lots more chocolate. I may or may not have already eaten half of it.

So that is my Christmas haul! Hope you enjoyed this post, I am going to try and get back to posting more regularly now that I have sorted out my schedule for my trainee teacher course.

Lies University Tells You

I got told so many things during my three years at university which ended up being not true at all so i thought i would share some with you all.

1. You should definitely buy this book

No you most definitely should not! Odds are the books your lecturers tell you to purchase are the ones that they have written themselves. You more than likely won't ever read it and if you do you will only read one chapter. Best thing to do is to find an eBook version on Google Scholar, it will save you money and time. I have so many books in my possession that i was told to buy and i haven't even finished any of them and some of them i never even used once.

2. If you're organised you wont need to worry about a thing.

Lies! You can be the most organised person in the world but when deadlines are looming and you also have an exam the same week you will worry. I'm not saying this to try and scare any prospective students but worry is inevitable and completely natural. Everyone does it so don't kid yourself.

3. If you live in halls you'll definitely get on with everyone.

While this may be true for some lucky people, the students you end up sharing a flat with will have different backgrounds, personalities, hobbies etc. You can not get on with everyone no matter how hard you try. Some people are just too different and that's ok. You can still be pleasant with one another but odds are you won't become 'best buds' with everyone you live with.

4. You'll become a domestic God and know how to do everything.

Erm yeah this one is definitely a lie. Odds are you'll still be ringing home asking how to work the washing machine or how to cook something without setting your flat on fire.

So these are just a few of the lies i got told at university. Comment below if you got told some too!

4 Places I Want To Visit

Traveling is something i love to do so here are 4 places i want to visit.

1. Australia

This is definitely my number one. I have always wanted to visit Australia to climb Ayers Rock, walk across the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge, hold a Kuala Bear. Hopefully after a couple of years of saving i will get there.

2. New York

I've always wanted to visit the Empire State Building after seeing it in loads of films, and it would be nice to see the Statue Of Liberty too. Luckily i shall be visiting New York for a week in April to celebrate my Dad's 50th birthday and i am so excited!

3. Maldives

Every time I get my hands on a holiday brochure this is always one of the first places I look at. I think it is just so beautiful and would be a lovely relaxing getaway.

4. Barbados

Sandy beaches, heat, sun, and the clear blue sea. Barbados is a lovely place for a nice getaway and to get a nice tan.

Hopefully within the next few years i will have visited all of these and i will be able to cross one of them off my list in April.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lip Gloss Review

I went on a little trip to Superdrug the other day and after watching Tanya Burr's videos on YouTube for a long time so i thought i would purchase one of her lip glosses.

I went for the shade Afternoon Tea which is a lovely pink colour. First thing i would like to say is that i love the name of the lip gloss, it is very sweet.

The lip gloss also smells so nice! It doesn't have one of those horrible plastic smells that a lot of lip glosses tend to have. Also it is very glossy and shiny which is great for the summer. The pigment also surprised me as it is actually very good and gives your lips a lovely pink gloss.

The price is also really good, i got mine for only £5.99 and each tube contains 7.5ml so it is very good value for money.

Overall i am very impressed with this lip gloss and will definitely be purchasing some of the new luxe range that she has just brought out as i am a huge fan of matte lip glosses and lipsticks.

June Favourites

Here are a few products that i was loving in June. Enjoy!

1. Calvin Klein Beauty (perfume)

This perfume is by far the BEST perfume i have ever come across. It smells really good. It has a very light floral scent which is  perfect for me and it lasts really well throughout the day too. Would definitely recommend if you like floral perfumes.

2. The Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory

This is a rich moisturiser which is great for dry skin. I tend to use it mainly for my elbows as that i where i tend to get dry skin and it has made them so soft and lovely. This can be used all over the body and smells great.

3. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

As those of you who read my blog will know i am a massive book lover and it wouldn't be a favourites post without mentioning one. For June i read The Great Gatsby which is a fantastic book that i would definitely recommend. I did a review on this book for last weeks post which you can check out here.

4. Ultron Vinyl Bobble Head

I got this off my friend for my 21st birthday and it has taken prime place on my window ledge. I absolutely love The Avengers and anything Marvel so this is the perfect present for me.

5. Johnsons Makeup Be Gone Moisturising Wipes For Dry Skin

These face wipes are amazing, they get my makeup off my skin really well and leave my skin feeling so soft. I went for the Dry Skin ones but you can also get ones for normal and oily skin too.

The Great Gatsby Book Review

The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald is a novel which i have read many times. The first time i read this book was during my English Literature A-level and i instantly fell in love with it.

The novel centers around the themes of wealth, mystery, idealism and resistance to change. It is set in the 1920's which was a period of wealth and prosperity in America. This novel has plenty of mystery within it as it focuses on the very mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, so, if you like novels with mystery and suspense then this is definitely for you. This novel was recently turned into a film but i have to say i much prefer the novel, probably because i read it first and went into the film already knowing the core concept.

This novel is a classic and really helps the reader to picture what the roaring twenties must have been like, and the style of clothing that people wore, which was considered risky for the time. There is romance in this, which is intertwined with violence, which grips the reader. It starts off slow as it builds up the characters but as the novel progresses it becomes more intense and harder to put down.

I can't really fault this novel, i really enjoyed reading it. It deals with betrayal and a sense of wanting to start over again that many people feel at some point. Fitzgerald was a very talented writer and I'm sure i will read this novel again at some point in the future.

My New Room

After not redecorating my room since i was 11, literally everything was pink, it was time for a change so me and my family got out the paint brushes and got to work to make my room much more grown up!

My Duvet covers are from Next and are a lovely lilac colour with a floral pattern. I loved these covers as soon as i saw them and they were on offer too when we got them.

My new roman blind is also purple and it has a white polka dot pattern. This was the last thing we got as it took me a long time to decide if i wanted curtains or a blind. I am very happy with my decision and the blind goes very well with the cream colour of the walls.

The chest of drawers i chose are also from Next and are part of the Marielle furniture range that they have. I went for white furniture as i wanted to keep the room quite neutral. These drawers are not delivered pre-built so you do have to put them together yourself, something which me and my family struggled with a bit.

The wardrobe is also from Next and is also part of the Marielle furniture range. You have to build this yourself too and the instructions aren't clear the whole way through which was a bit annoying. We also had some trouble with this as the first one they delivered was broken and had to be sent back. We had to wait another week for a new one which meant i had to store my clothes in my parents room while we waited. The wardrobe is the same colour as the drawers so they match perfectly.

The lamp shade i chose is from John Lewis. It is a lovely cream colour which matches well with the colour of the walls. It has a pretty flower pattern cut out into it as well which is a nice touch.

Overall i am very happy with my newly decorated room it feels very good to be in one that is much more age appropriate.

I also did a YouTube video for this room tour which can be checked out below if you would like to watch it! :)

13 Personal Questions Tag

I'll be honest i literally had no idea what to write about this week, i have been very stressed with trying to redecorate my bedroom and having some issues with furniture deliveries etc. I am planning on writing a book review which would have been today's post but i haven't finished the book yet so here is plan b!

1. What do you order at Starbucks?

I'm not a massive coffee fan so i tend to order a hot chocolate or one of those nice fruity drinks when its nice and hot outside.

2. What's one thing in your closet you can't live without?

My black faux leather jacket from Miss Selfridge, it goes well with so many outfits and i would be completely lost without it!

3. What's one thing people don't know about you?

I get obsessed with TV shows very easily and if i have the time i will happily watch a full season of a show on Netflix in one day.

4. What's one thing you want to do before you die?

I want to have visited at least 10 different countries and go to their museums. I love traveling and museums so much but unfortunately it costs money which i do not have at the moment. At the moment i have visited 5 different countries so hopefully that number will increase soon!

5. What's one food you can't live without?

I would have to say chicken because i love it so much, especially KFC chicken which i know is very salty and not at all healthy but it tastes so good!

6. What's one quote that you live your life by?

'Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring' - Marilyn Monroe.

7. What do you like and dislike about the YouTube/Blogger community?

I like that i have been able to talk to some amazing people who are extremely creative and have inspired me to be more so. I dislike how sometimes bitching and trolling can occur which i hate because it's pointless.

8. What's your number 1 song on your iPod/iTunes?

At the moment it is without a doubt Formation by Beyonce, i am obsessed with the song and it is really catchy.

9. What kind of style would you describe yourself as having?

I don't think i really have a specific style, i tend to just wear what i like and what i think looks good.

10. Favourite number?

Three!

11. Two hobbies?

Blogging and reading.

12. Two pet peeves?

Biting finger nails and being ignored.

13. Your guilty pleasure?

Literally anything smothered in chocolate!

I tag anyone who wants to do this tag! I wasn't tagged by anyone i just felt like doing it :)

Onwards And Upwards

So i found out the other day that i will be graduating from my history degree with a 2:2. Sadly i just missed out on a 2:1 by one grade. Despite my degree classification being lower than a lot of my friends i am honestly so proud of myself.

To begin with i was unsure about whether university was even for me, as i struggled to keep up with the pace in first year. But then i found out that the reason i was stuggling so much was because i had a undiscovered learning difficulty.

After becoming aware of this i was able to work with my univeristy to get more help and guidance to help me to improve my grades. This helped me so much and i am very grateful for the support i recieved. My grades improved drastically in my final year and i even managed to get a 2:1 in my dissertation which i am immensely proud of! Despite getting a 2:2 overall, and literally just missing out on a 2:1, i take comfort from the fact that i worked so hard to get the grades i did and could not have tried harder. My friends and family also helped me so much, they were there when i cried because i got too stressed or to go and binge on cake with me for some comfort food!

So onwards and upwards! Getting a 2:2 means that i still qualify for a place on my Primary PGCE course which i am so happy about. The course starts in September and then i will be well on my way to becoming a primary school teacher.

I can't wait to start taking the steps towards my future career and i am so happy with how far i have come and what i have accomplished in the past few years.

My 21st Birthday!

I am finally 21! I can now legally drink in America and go into a casino.

As 21 is a very special landmark i went slightly overboard and had 3 celebrations for it.

The first one was a night out with my friends from university the week before it which was so good! A lot of my friends turned up which i was very grateful for and i had the best time.

We did some pre drinks at my student house and then headed into town to a club. Unfortunately the alcohol got to me a bit and i ended up leaving at around 1am to go to MacDonalds for a much needed chicken burger! Apart from me being a massive fail when it comes to alcoholic consumption i had a very good night out.

Then onto the weekend before my birthday! Two of my best friends from Birmingham who i have known since school came to Worcester and we went to a couple of cocktail bars.

It was so good to see them as during my third year of university i didn't really have much time to socialize with them and i missed them a lot! We stayed at the bars for a little while and then went back to my student house to watch Disney movies on Netflix. It was a good night and it was nice to be able to spend some time with them.

For my actual birthday i spent the day with my family and had the best 21st birthday i could have asked for. We went into London to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner which was lush! I had a massive Mojito cocktail which was very nice and a pulled BBQ chicken burger with chips and coleslaw which was sooooo good!

Then the best part of the day was when we went to the Apollo Victoria Theatre to watch Wicked The Musical which was the most amazing musical i have ever seen in my entire life! The staging was so good, the actors were amazing, the costumes were brilliant. It was epic!

Overall i had the best 21st ever and i am so so so grateful for the friends and family that i have.

House Party Madness

So my degree is complete, its the end of third year and the only way to celebrate is to have a house party, which is what i did!

Finishing university feels very strange but i am grateful for the things i got to experience and the friends that i made.

The house party was a good way to get everyone together one last time and to mark the fact that we did it. Despite many tears and a lot of stress along the way we made it through the degree and hopefully we will all be successful in the future.

My History Degree Is Almost Complete!

After three years of struggling, tears, stress and occasional happiness my history degree is almost complete!

It feels so strange that it is almost over, the three years of my degree have gone by very fast. I am going to miss so many people but i can honestly say that i am glad that after tomorrow i will not have to write any more history essays or do a history exam ever again. As much as i enjoy history, and i am glad i chose the degree that i did, it does take its toll after a while.

Nevertheless i am proud with how far i have come, what i have managed to achieve and who I've become as a person. University has helped me to become much more sure of myself, more confident and more willing to try new things and experiences. I have met some amazing people, some who i know i will definitely stay in touch with.

I don't think it will feel real until after my graduation but i am looking forward to having the summer to just chill and have some much needed rest. I miss sleep.
